Contextual Thinking: TransformingCellphone from Smort to Cognitive.

Dr. RuizhiChen is an endowed chair andprofessor at the Conrad Blucher Institute of Surveying and Science, School ofEngineering and Computer Science, Texas A&M University Corpus Christi. Dr.Chen is the editor of the book entitled “Ubiquitous Positioning and MobileLocation-Based Services in Smart Phones” and author/co-author of 134 scientificpapers and 4 book chapters. His research results have been published twice ascover stories in the magazine, “GPS Worlds.” For the last 11 years, Dr. Chen worked at the Finnish GeodeticInstitute as the head of the Department of Navigation and Positioning andraised more than 3 million euros in research funds in 15 projects co-founded byEuropean Union, European Space Agency, Academy of Finland, Finnish FundingAgency for Technology and Innovation, and Finnish Industry. He worked at Nokiaas an engineering manager between 1998 -2001. He has been the general chairs ofthe IEEE conferences “Ubiquitous positioning, indoor navigation and Location-based services” 2010, 2012. He is currently amember of editorial boards of two international journals. PhD studentssupervised by Dr. Chen have received 6 awards in best student papercompetitions in various international conferences including two times in IONbest student paper competitions.
